New Jersey State Winner

In addition to winning the national grand prize, Brian Sumereau is also the New Jersey state winner of the Invention Dimension Challenge. The 11-year-old beat out thousands of other contestants for his highly original new game, ‘The Puzzler,’ which masterfully combines logic puzzles with board games. As the state winner, Brian receives a $500 JAKKS Pacific Prize Pack.

Brian decided to combine two of his favorite games, logic puzzles and board games to come up with a super fun game. The Puzzler is a fusion of a board game and puzzle/maze/word find games. Brian explains how his game hits the mark:

“Most people do puzzles by themselves and play board games with others. But the combination of both will put pressure on everyone to solve the problem. You can only move forward on the board by solving puzzles in a certain amount of time. So even self proclaimed puzzle masters will find it difficult because there’s usually no time limit on a puzzle or have everyone watching you solve a puzzle. There are clues inside puzzles which can help you move further on the board.”

Brian nominated Meryl Wolf as the teacher who inspired him the most to come up with his winning idea. Brian says Meryl Wolf is an integral part of the the River Vale School district's special programs.

"She consistently challenges us with competitions such as the Invention Dimension. She keeps in touch with her student's progress even after they leave her SAGE program. With budget cuts hitting these areas in many schools, I feel it's important to recognize the importance of these programs. Without this program, I wouldn't have known about BKFK", said Brian.

Meryl received a $500 JAKKS Pacific School/Classroom Supply pack as part of the national prize and a $200 prize pack as part of the state prize..
