Of the 2008 Pennsylvania Challenge
Teen in Pennsylvania Wins BKFK Statewide Competition
for Innovative Sports Product
(New York, NY)- June 12, 2008 – By Kids For Kids (BKFK), the youth creativity
specialist, announced yesterday, from the show floor of the Licensing
International Expo 2008, the statewide winner of the 2008 Pennsylvania
Challenge. Youth from across the state of Pennsylvania were challenged to enter
their ideas in 4 categories: Going Green, Signature Style, Sports Evolution and
Digital Arts. The top entry across the four categories was honored at today's
award ceremony.
Martin Schneider, Winner of the BKFK 2008 Pennsylvania Challenge Martin
Schneider, an 11-year-old hailing from Dresher, PA., won the top prize for his
"Bat Gripper" innovation, in the Sports Evolution category. Having attended many
of his sister's softball games, Martin repeatedly noticed how the coach had to
interrupt the flow of the game to walk over and help the batter adjust his or
her batting grip. That's when Martin was struck with the idea that there had to
be an easier way to help kids learn proper hand placement when batting. Martin's
"Bat Gripper" is a piece of thin, rubbery material that is bendable, and formed
in the shape of two hands. The "hands" can be wrapped around any bat or club to
show proper hand placement, leaving the coach or the teacher more time to focus
on other aspects of the game.
Norman Goldstein, the Founder and CEO of BKFK commented: "Martin has surely hit
a home run with his 'Bat Gripper' invention! Congratulations to Martin for
winning the 2008 BKFK Pennsylvania Challenge. We have enjoyed getting to know
him and many talented youth and educators in Pennsylvania, and look forward to
working with the state in the future."
As the top winner, Martin was presented with a new laptop and a trophy. Though
winning this Pennsylvania competition, Martin is still eligible to compete in
the national versions of the competitions, where the grand prize winners of each
category will receive $10,000 and unique "connections to reality." Presenting
sponsors of the statewide competition in Pennsylvania include: Edison Venture
Fund, and The United Inventors Association (UIA), Participating sponsors
include: Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP.
