Connecticut Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday, October 11 – 12, 2008
Youth marketing specialist BKFK brought a plethora of fun
activities to the ‘OneThing-Palozza!,’ a special kids section within the
OneThing Expo, an event designed to discover the endless variety of “OneThings”
that school’s, businesses, and residents can do to save energy and protect the
environment
Stamford, CT – October 14, 2008 – By Kids For Kids (BKFK) was an excited
participant in this grand event called the OneThing Expo: ‘Home of a Million
OneThings’. A world wide environmental initiative created as a part of
Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell’s OneThing Campaign. This three day event,
which ran from October 10-12, 2008 featured the endless variety of “OneThings”
that are possible by schools, businesses, and residents to make positive change
and positive impact in order to protect the environment and save energy. This
event showcased a broad spectrum of specialists over a dynamic breadth of
industries rejoicing in the explanation and further understanding of
conservation and how to go about doing it.
BKFK was invited to participate in this green event by Stepping Stones Museum
for Children - who have participated in the BKFK summer museum ‘Brainstorm
Challenge’ program for the past four years. For two days, October 11-12, 2008,
BKFK demonstrated their unique and wonderful vision in the ‘Invention Area.’
This space was housed within a special kids section of the Expo called the One
Thing-Palooza!, a 24,000 square foot interactive area, designed by Stepping
Stones Museum for Children and The Connecticut Science Center. Along with the
Invention Area, there was Stepping Stones new Conservation Quest (should be in
italics) exhibit and energy-themed maze. While in the OneThing-Palooza!, kids
visiting the BKFK area created Straw Rockets, Skimmers, Helicopters, and Kites.
Skip Ploss, children’s book author and illustrator, led kids in some creative
abstract drawing activities on Saturday.
Further, several BKFK inventors were highlighted in the exhibit, including;
Elizabeth Rintels, Grand Prize Winner of the ‘Going Green Challenge’ and her
invention “The Water Watcher”, Kevin Provencher, “Ice Straw”, Austin Meggitt,
“Battie Caddie”, Cassidy Goldstein, “Crayon Holder.” Also, Zachary Levins,
creator of the new memory board game “Repeat Or You’re Obsolete” – conducted
several fun, fast-paced activities from his game to the delight of the youthful
crowd.

Norman Goldstein, the founder and CEO of BKFK, commented, “When we were asked to
be a part of this great ‘coming together’ of all the things we can do to save
the environment by the Stepping Stones Museum for Children, our enthusiasm was
limitless. We enjoyed an exciting two days of eco-awareness, and celebration of
youth innovation and creativity!”
