Alexandria, VA Resident Wins Virginia 'INVENT-A-GAME' CHALLENGE
Alex Hartwig, 17, wins Virginia 'INVENT-A-GAME' Challenge for his game,
Project Jet

CT- December 3, 2009- By Kids For Kids Co. (BKFK) announces that Alex Hartwig,
17, of Alexandria, VA has won the special Virginia 'Invent-A-Game' Challenge, a
competition where kids from Virginia were challenged to invent a new video game.
The Invent-A-Game Challenge was a national competition sponsored by Best Buy and
EA with a Virginia statewide prize awarded through the support of The Edison
Venture Fund and the United Inventors Association.
Alex's winning online game entry is called: Project Jet. Project Jet is a side
scrolling action adventure game, where the objective is to find the missing
pieces of your Rocket, named Jet. Your Rocket, Jet, talks to you over your
helmet microphone and guides you to a mysterious new planet named Phoenix X.
Along the way, you meet many beings that can help you if you do a quest for
them. At the end of each level you either gain a piece of your rocket or an
object that can bring you to the next level, E.g. - Lava boots, Water suit, etc.
As the Virginia State winner, Alex Hartwig won a special $1,000 prize. He was
also automatically entered into the national version of the contest. Ultimately,
the grand prize winner of the national competition was Dan Slutz, 17, of Canton,
Ohio for his game "Rhythm," which immerses players into the world of music.
Alex Hartwig commenting on his award said: "I was inspired to create 'Project
Jet' by the lack of story-based games in today's gaming world. Those classic
games such as Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda, and Metroid inspired me to create
this game."

The Virginia Invent-A-Game Challenge was presented by Best Buy and EA.

Venture Fund.
