Ideation Tips: Create
a Media Campaign |
Have something to say? Say it out LOUD and Be Heard! We've got tips
to help you voice your thoughts for a cause.
Step1. Pick Your Cause:
Find out what identifies you and what issues
connect with you more. Define your theme with a campaign that could
include TV commercials, radio jingles, print ads and online banners.
Step 2. Do Your Research:
You need to understand how media communicates
with its audience. And there’s no better way to learn than to view a
variety of ads and analyze what they are trying to say.
• View commercials on television with a critical eye
• Examine print ads in various magazines and newspapers
• Look at music videos and contemporary programs for images and
values
• Listen to radio jingles for audio styles
Step 3. Design Your Campaign:
Learn tools that advertisers use in their
marketing campaigns & use them in creating an advertising campaign
for the issue you picked.
Here’s what you can do.
• You will need colored pencils, pens, or markers for drawing and a
ruler/protractor to put your idea together.
• For a TV/ Radio ad, make a flow chart and storyboard your idea by
drawing key scenes and identifying your props and characters.
• For a print/online ad, draw your design in paper.
• Do research and learn about marketing and creative briefs –
describing your campaign idea can come in this format!
Step 4. Test It:
Get thoughts and reactions to understand if your idea
really works. Use your classmates as a sounding board to critique
the campaign
• Does it work?
• Will people like it?
• Is the campaign sending out the correct message to its audience?
