Steve Russell is a programmer, well-known for inventing SpaceWar! He was 26 when he used a MIT PDP-1 mainframe computer to design his game. It was the first game intended for computer use. Russell was nicknamed "Slug" and led a team of developers to program a game based on sci-fi author, E.E. "Doc" Smith's work. It took the team about 200 man-hours to write the first version of SpaceWar!
