Iwao
Takamoto was a Japanese American animator, television
producer, and film director. He was most famous as being a
production designer for Hanna-Barbera Productions and the
artist/character designer for Scooby-Doo. Takamoto first entered
the cartoon world after the end of the war. He was hired as
an assistant animator by Walt Disney Studios in 1947. He worked
as an animator on such titles as Cinderella, Sleeping
Beauty, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and
Lady and the Tramp. |

Michelle Sung Wie is Korean
American professional golfer at only age 17. She began playing
at the age of 4. She became the youngest player to qualify
for an adult USGA tournament at 10 years old. She was the
youngest winner (male or female) of an adult USGA tournament
at age 13. She was also the youngest player to play in a PGA
Tour event at age 14. Finally she was the first female medalist
in a men’s U.S. Open qualifying tournament at age 16!

Michelle Kwan is an American
figure skater born in California to her parents who are Chinese
immigrants from Hong Kong. She has won nine U.S. championships,
five world championships, and two Olympic medals. Kwan's competitive
history spans over a decade, as she has been competing at
the national level since she was 12 years old. Kwan has won
the most World Championships by anyone in the ladies' division
and she has tied the record for U.S. Championships. Kwan's
eight consecutive U.S. Championship titles and 12 consecutive
U.S. Championship medals are both U.S. records. She is the
only woman in figure skating history to reclaim the World
title three times. |

Anna Sui was born to Chinese
immigrant parents. When she was very young she used to dress
her dolls and her neighbor's toy soldiers, and pretended they
were at the Oscars. A Sui was growing up she clipped fashion-magazine
pages and put them in what she calls her Genius Files,
which have been an inspiration to her throughout her career.
During her senior year of high school, Anna Sui received a
scholarship to attend Parson's School of Design in New York.
In 1992 she took a chance with a personal clothing line and
opened her first boutique shop in New York City. |

Dr. Sammy Lee is the first
Asian American to win an Olympic gold medal for the United
States and the first man to win back-to-back gold medals in
Olympic platform diving. Lee also won a bronze medal in springboard
diving in the 1948 games. He went on to coach Olympic divers
including Pat McCormick, Bob Webster, and Greg Louganis. He
is a member of the US Olympic Hall of Fame. |

Jim Lee is a Korean American
comic book artist, writer, creator and publisher. Lee is currently
one of the most successful artists in American comics. Lee
was born in Seoul, South Korea, but grew up in St. Louis,
Missouri. After inking only the cover of Samurai Santa
#1 for a small, independent publisher, Lee found success
at Marvel Comics. His early Marvel work included Alpha
Flight and Punisher War Journal. Lee did covers
for the X-Men comics and that’s when his fame began
to rise. Lee was one of seven artists who broke away from
Marvel to form Image Comics. Lee's group of titles was named
Wildstorm Productions and published Lee's title WildC.A.T.s,
which Lee penciled and co-wrote. |
