BKFK Alum Corner

We recently heard back from some of our past winners and finalists, who are taking their ideas to the next level! Here's a quick overview of where they are at:

Alex Takes His Horseshoe Crabs Campaign to City Hall

When we first read Alex Zerphy's idea, we were amazed to have found him and his novel campaign idea of raising awareness on horseshoe crabs. With his idea 'Planet Horseshoe Crab', 12-year-old Alex made it to our Top Five in the Akitas To Zebras Animal Challenge sponsored by The Weather Channel.

He's now actively working to bring his idea to fruition - from fliers and T-shirts to online campaigning. Just recently, he met with the Mayor of Annapolis, MD, Ellen O. Moyer to advocate his message. He made quite an impression on the Mayor who has now promised to incorporate a survey of the critters at the Annapolis Maritime Museum and in the summer program at Back Creek Nature Park.

Rachel Anson Launches Her Company Plus Wins A Fashion Scholarship

Rachel Anson, the Tommy Hilfiger 2008 Signature Style Challenge winner, recently launched her 'Retro Modern' fashion company and many of her designs are already getting some buzz! She was celebrated at a special award ceremony and a fashion show event, 'Rock the Runway'.
