Eye Paper
Inventor: Brenda
Invented at age: 11

She had a problem: Brenda wanted to help make life easier for a student in her class that was blind. She knew there had to be a way to help the blind be able to write their assignments down without getting help from anyone.

She had an idea: Why not create a kind of paper with raised lines on the paper in columns and rows to create a box for each letter? The user can feel the space in which to write each letter. She also thought of adding smell to the paper to make it more fun for the student using it.

She developed it: Brenda made a prototype of her invention using lines of yarn over a blank piece of paper.

The idea was a hit: She won the 2006 Maryland Cool School Tools Challenge

Brenda plays lacrosse and sings in the choir. Her favorite singer is Nelly Furtado.
