a Tagalog word from the native language of the Philippines which means
'come back.'

The yo-yo was considered a weapon in the Philippines for
over 400 hundred years.

In the 1920s, Flores, a Philippine immigrant,
began the manufacturing a toy labeled with that name in a small toy
factory in California.

Duncan bought the rights from Flores in 1929 and
trademarked the name Yo-Yo.
