Elias Howe
Sewing Machine
- Elias Howe invented the first useful sewing
machine. He became a skilled machinist being an apprentice in a textile
factory and then for a master mechanic.
- By 1845, Howe had created a
practical sewing machine. Howe's invention proved to be five times
faster than the quickest hand sewers.
