Jerrilee
Swipe-it
Inventor: Jerrilee
Invented at age: 9

She saw a problem: Jerrilee wanted to create a special birthday gift for her older sister who loved word games. Word games were often boring. She wanted something fun and fast paced but challenging at the same time.

She had an idea: use cards with letters to create a game where the players had to race to spell words. The faster the better.

Swipe-itShe developed it: With the help of her mother, Jerrilee brainstormed ideas and developed Swipe It, a fast-paced game of spelling and vocabulary. Swipe It is a game in which the players race to complete words from multiple letter groups building from the inside out. The more words you complete or steal, the more points you earn. The more cards left in your hand when someone goes out, the more points you lose. The rules contain several versions, and it can be played cooperatively or competitively.

The idea was a hit: All of Jerrilee's friends and family enjoy playing the game. Jerrilee is setting up Swipe It Tournaments in schools across the country! She is making herself available to do “Meet the Creator” assemblies in Bay Area schools.

When Jerrilee isn’t inventing she loves to act.
