Aim N Fish
Inventor: Justin
Invented at age: 10
He had a problem: Justin loved to fish, but he had difficulty
with casting. His line was always getting tangled and
he thought there should be a safer way to cast a fishing
line.
One day while fishing under some trees he noticed all
the tangled hooks and bobbins in the tree above his head.
All young anglers had problems casting with frustration
of tangled lines and hooks that get stuck in unexpected
places. He thought it would be fun if there was an easier
and safer way to cast a fishing line.
He had an idea: Why couldn’t you just aim your
rod to where you wanted the hook to go?
He
created a new fishing rod that would cast for you. He
came up with a compact, fish shape rod and reel enhanced
with an interior mechanism that could shoot the line out
into the water 10-30 feet with the simple press of a trigger.
He developed it: Justin bought a spring action dart gun
and placed the reel from his fishing rod on top. He crazy
glued a bobbin to the end of one of the darts. He put
his fishing line and hook at the end of the bobbin. He
then made a wood shaped covering to go over the gun that
resembled a fish.
The idea was a hit: Justin was a 2005 Chester Award winner
in the By Kids for Kids Xerox National Invention Competition.
During the summer Justin likes to go swimming and fishing.
His least favorite thing about school is Math.
