Chemist Roy J. Plunkett
discovered tetrafluoroethylene resin while researching refrigerants
at DuPont.

Known by its trade name, Teflon, Plunkett's discovery
was found to be extremely heat-tolerant and stick-resistant. After
ten years of research, Teflon was introduced in 1949.
