Richie Stachowski

Water Talkie

  • To succeed in life we must get a good education, study hard and go to college, right? Well yes, but going on a vacation helps. What?, we hear you say? A vacation? Yes holiday!

  • Kid inventor Richie Stachowski was vacationing in Hawaii when he came up with an invention that changed his life.

  • 11 year old, Richie was annoyed that he couldn't talk to his father while underwater snorkeling off the coast of Hawaii. Richie immediately he started thinking about ways talking could be possible under the oxygen free world of underwater.

  • Richie used a combination of Internet research and several designs to arrive at what would be a fun and unique toy. He then withdrew all his savings (a whopping $267!) and started building a workable prototype.

  • Sure enough, the problem that Richie tried to fix, namely talking underwater, was solved. His product was called Water Talkies and become a big success selling at major retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart and Toys"R"Us in over 13 countries. Rich continued to invent more water toys and he developed his own company to market his inventions. At the age of 13, he sold his company for over $1 million dollars! He currently holds 4 patents and is on the Student Board of the National Gallery for America's Young Inventors.

  • Who says that vacations are just for laying around!
