
“BKFK,” THE CONNECTICUT INVENTION CONVENTION AND XEROX HONORED WITH “EDDY” AWARD
Award Recognizes Prominent Economic Development Initiatives in Connecticut
STAMFORD, Conn., Dec. 13, 2005 – BKFK Co. “BKFK”, Xerox and the Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC) have been awarded The Connecticut Economic Development Association and the Connecticut Economic Resource Center’s “Eddy” Award for developing “Inventive Thinking” programs for Connecticut children.
Each year the “Eddy” goes to outstanding economic development professionals, companies, projects and programs that exemplify the Team Connecticut spirit and positively impact the Connecticut economy.
Xerox is the main sponsor of the BKFK Inventive Thinking Toolkit, a comprehensive set of resources designed to teach inventive thinking skills to America’s youth. The toolkits are distributed free-of-charge to American educators interested in fostering innovation. Xerox also sponsors the BKFK-Xerox Invent-A-Toy World Games, a national invention competition ending on January 16th for kids between the age of 5 and 19.
"The CIC is very proud to be part of the team receiving the prestigious 2005 Connecticut "EDDY" Program Award,” said Charlie Baumgartner, President of the not-for-profit CIC and a New Product Purchasing Program Manager for GE Consumer & Industrial, “After 23 years of volunteer efforts promoting problem-solving using the CIC's Student Invention Curriculum, in Connecticut's K-8 population, the board of directors and I are grateful for this recognition. We hope to continue coordination with others, in the development of new and improved educational tools for use by all children everywhere."
The next CIC takes place on April 29, 2006 at the University of Connecticut Storrs campus. At the 2005 CIC, BKFK presented Entrepreneurial Awards” and licensing contracts to five talented young inventors. “BKFK looks forward to collaborating again with the CIC in 2006 and honoring Connecticut’s brightest kid inventors,” said Norman Goldstein, founder and CEO of BKFK Co.
