Handbook To Help Kids with Cancer
Invented by 9-year old Arabella Uhry
Arabella was born in southern China and was abandoned at birth. Five months later she was adopted by her mom, Amanda Uhry. Arabella learned of another young girl who was adopted from China but she was sick with a brain tumor caused by cancer. Arabella became pen pals with her friend from China. They wrote many letters but never met. She died before they had a chance to actually see each other in person.
Arabella decided that other kids could help kids with cancer if they knew what to do. So she set out to write a book to “help kids help kids with cancer”.
Arabella was personally awarded the New York Liberty Medal Award for her volunteer work. She began volunteering with the nonprofit Tumbleweed Foundation which provides emotional support for children with terminal illnesses and was awarded a BKFK commercialization contract in February 2005
