After winning the Design Squad Trash to
Treasure Competition, Max has been busy meeting industry experts
and talking about his invention. On April 23, 2009, Max
presented his invention to U.S. Senators and their families at
Washington D.C. Max was accompanied by Design Squad host
Nate Ball to the U.S. Senate's "Take Our Daughters & Sons to
Work Day" event, hosted by Senators Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX)
and Mary L. Landrieu (D-LA).
Senator Landrieu introduced Max to a group of school children
who had lost their homes to Hurricane Katrina, and she praised
Max for his commitment to helping others with his inventions,
saying that the Home Dome has the potential to help thousands in
need of shelter in areas that have been hit by natural
disasters.
Nate and Max were invited to join the Senators in a live Q&A
session with the event’s approximately 100 attendees. Both
Senators emphasized the importance of careers in science,
technology, and engineering, saying those industries will
continue to propel our country forward.
